Thermal Tests – Infrared

The non-destructive method of thermal or infrared (IR) testing is a testing method that uses infrared radiation to detect anomalies in materials. This method is based on the measurement of the infrared radiation emitted by an object, which is proportional to its temperature.

Infrared radiation is a form of electromagnetic energy that lies in the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and microwaves. Infrared radiation can be used to measure the temperature of an object without physical contact. The infrared inspection technique is used to detect anomalies in the temperature distribution of an object, which may indicate the presence of defects or problems in the material.

The technique is commonly used in building inspection, power leak detection, electrical equipment inspection, and problem detection in product manufacturing.
